My Travels With Don

Schoodic Peninsula and Quoddy Head State Park

We spent only a single night (and most of the afternoon preceeding) at Cobscook Bay State Park. Not really a place we had planned to stay, we ended up there because we couldn't find a campground close to Quoddy Head. That was okay with us, because we were determined to see as much of Maine as we could during the time we had. This all turned out to be a pleasant surprise, as Cobscook Bay was a very nice little State Park. The tide was out when we got there, so we had a chance to walk around the rocky shore of the bay. Over hours, we took a series of photographs as the tide came in. We have spared the viewer the results of this experiment.

A rocky Maine beach. A lonely, rock-strewn beach on the Schoodic Peninsula. Schoodic is a lesser-visited area of Acadia National Park.

There must be a reason.... There must be a reason Don took this picture, but I can't figure it out. We only have two shots of Schoodic and this is one of them? We don't even have any shots of Quoddy Head State Park! Quoddy Head is just about the easternmost point of the United States. We stayed and hiked around the cliffs for hours.
